Information you provide

You can browse the Dictionary, Thesaurus, categories and games without creating an account. If you email me, I receive your email address, your message and any information you choose to include. I use these to respond and keep track of our correspondence. Please do not send sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry. I do not sell your email address or add you to a marketing mailing list without your agreement.

Email subscriptions

If you subscribe, this website stores your email address, subscription status and confirmation details in its WordPress database. A confirmation email asks you to verify your subscription before you receive Hoptanglish news. You can unsubscribe through the link in each newsletter or contact david@hoptanglish.com. Newsletter open and click tracking is disabled by default. Unsubscribed records may be retained to honour your opt-out; you can request deletion.

Technical information

When you visit, the website and its service providers may process your IP address, browser and device details, pages requested, referring page and access times. This information supports delivery of the site, security, fault diagnosis and abuse prevention. Hosting and email services are provided through Hostinger and Titan Email.

Retention and security

I aim to keep correspondence and other personal information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was received, record keeping, security or legal obligations. You can ask me to delete correspondence that is no longer needed; copies may remain in routine backups until those backups are replaced.

I take reasonable steps to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
